Youth Leadership Summit and Scholarship Application Instructions

  1. Applications are online at tcec.coop Monday, November 1, 2021.
  2. Entries must be submitted online by Monday, January 10, 2022 by 5 p.m.
  3. All applications become the property of Tri-County Electric Cooperative.



Application Guidelines

  1. Applicants must be members of the 2021-22 Senior Class in a school within the TCEC’s service territory.
  2. The parents or guardians of applicants must be members of TCEC.
  3. Members of the immediate families and/or persons residing in the households of cooperative trustees and/or employees of TCEC are not eligible to participate in the contest or serve as winners.
  4. Contestants must have written permission from a parent or guardian to participate in the Youth Leadership Summit.
  5. Applicants must be able to attend the Youth Leadership Summit scheduled for Monday, March 14, 2022, during the event 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. More details will be provided to those selected for the Summit and scholarship.

Making Application
Part I – School and Community Activity

  • List your extracurricular activities, jobs, awards received, and positions held.


Part 2 – Youth Leadership Summit Statement

  • 300-500 word essay on what you think makes a great leader. Include a discussion of your leadership skills and how you hope to improve those skills.


Part 3 – Reference Information

Application Review

  • All applications will be reviewed by a panel chosen by or appointed by TCEC.

Forfeiture of Scholarship

  • The $500 scholarship will be forfeited if the chosen applicant does not attend the Youth Leadership Summit.

Safety Clause

  • The safety of our students and chaperones is our top priority. If the Leadership Summit coordinators feel that travel is unsafe due to concerns with the Coronavirus (or any other acts of terrorism, disaster, civil disorder, or curtailment of transportation facilities), then the trip will be canceled.
  • If the above is acted on, applicants may be required to participate in an alternate event to receive the $500 scholarship.
