August is an important month for TCEC members. District meetings to elect trustees happen early in the month and we are sending a lineman to Guatemala later in the month. Another great thing happening for members is that everyone who was an active residential TCEC member as of May 1, will receive four Energy Star-certified light-emitting diode (LED) lightbulbs.
These free lightbulbs will save you money in energy costs for the next 23 years (the expected life of a bulb used an average of three hours per day). Switching out one incandescent bulb for an LED bulb can save an average of more than $6 per year. Knowing that, TCEC encourages members to take advantage of energy efficient LED lighting.
You can begin to cut your energy bills as soon as your box of four energy-efficient LED lightbulbs is delivered to your mailbox, which should be in the next few weeks. The box will be clearly labeled as holding LED bulbs. To begin saving money, replace four incandescent bulbs with the new LED bulbs immediately.
If you have questions or issues with the bulbs, please refer to the insert cards that come in the package. If you’d like to see a demonstration of energy savings possible with LED bulbs compared to other types, please stop by our office at 995 Mile 46 Road in Hooker and ask for one. We have displays in the lobby to demonstrate the difference they make.
