8th Grade Energy Camp Application Instructions

  1. Each applicant shall submit a completed application online.
  2. Entries must be received by January 17, at 5 p.m.
  3. All applications become the property of Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC).

Application Guidelines

  1. Applicants must be members of the 2023-24 8th Grade class in a school within the TCEC’s service territory.
  2. The parents or guardians of applicants must be members of TCEC.
  3. Members of the immediate families and/or persons residing in the households of cooperative trustees and/or employees of TCEC are not eligible to participate in the contest or serve as winners.
  4. Contestants must have written permission from a parent or guardian to participate in the 8th Grade Energy Camp.
  5. Applicants must be able to attend the 8th Grade Energy Camp scheduled for May 28-31, 2024, in Hinton, Oklahoma.

Write a Letter

  • Eighth graders write a letter to their school’s principal naming specific actions the school should take to be more energy efficient.
  • They attach the letter online with trip application to TCEC to apply for the trip.

Application Review

  • All applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges separate from TCEC.

Safety Clause

  • The safety of our students and chaperones is our top priority. If the 8th Grade Energy Camp coordinators feel that travel is unsafe due to concerns with the Coronavirus (or any other acts of terrorism, disaster, civil disorder, or curtailment of transportation facilities), then the trip will be canceled.
  • If the above is acted on, applicants may be required to participate in an alternate event.
