As I write this at the beginning of May, the COVID-19 pandemic is hitting our area hard as positive cases continue to rise. Taking care of day-to-day business while dealing with a crisis can be difficult but it is always necessary.
One of the items I recently checked off my list was sitting down with my wife, Jennifer, and completing the 2020 U.S. census online for our household. This only took about 10 minutes of our time and I know my information and privacy will be protected because it’s safe, secure and confidential.
We participated in the census because it’s the right thing to do, because it’s patriotic and mandated by the U.S. Constitution, and because this year’s census will be used when determining how to allocate more than $675 billion per year in federal funds spent on schools, hospitals, roads, public works and other vital programs.
We believe the census is so critical to our communities that our cooperative became a local partner for the 2020 census to further engage our members and employees to participate in the census. I’m asking you to be sure your household responds to the 2020 U.S. census. I’m also encouraging all our employees at TCEC to respond to the census as soon as possible if they haven’t already.
You have probably already been contacted to complete the census. If your household hasn’t responded yet, I encourage you to visit my2020census.gov today to complete the simple questions and be counted. Alternately, you can call 844-330-2020 to complete it by phone or complete and return the questionnaire if you received one in the mail.
Thank you for being part of our cooperative and our community.
Let’s be counted.
